  3. Four Ways To Read Configuration Setting In C#
  4. This article will demonstrate how we can get/read the configuration setting from Web.Config or App.Config in C#. There are different ways to set the values inside the configuration file and read their values, which are based on the defined keys. We define those values inside the configuration section, which might be needed to make it more secure. It can be some secret keys or the value, which should be received frequently.

  5. C# Application Configuration Basics
  6. Configurations are integral to applications that has to deal with user preferences or configurable components. C# .NET offers two standard means of handling configurations. They are rich and extendable, however, the defaults are adequate for the basic needs. Here I review the basic usage of the two configuration methods.

  7. App.Config: Basics and Best Practices
  8. In one of my previous posts, I wrote about the .NET build configuration system. I mentioned the app.config file, but didn’t really dive into it. So let’s take a closer look at this file now. When you create a (non-web) .NET Framework application in Visual Studio, an app.config file is added to your project. When you create a class library or a .NET Core project, such a file is not included, although it can be done afterward.

  12. This article introduces how to store custom information from a configuration file that you can retrieve later during run time by its associated application. It's helpful when you must define data that's associated with an application.

  13. Manage application settings (.NET)
  14. Application settings enable you to store application information dynamically. With application settings, you can use a client computer to store information that shouldn't be included in the application code at runtime. Application settings can include connection strings, user preferences, and more.

  15. What is App.config in C#.NET? How to use it?
  16. I have done a project in C#.NET where my database file is an Excel workbook. Since the location of the connection string is hard coded in my coding, there is no problem for installing it in my system, but for other systems there is.

Visual Studio project building error in C# project

when I rebuild my project #zLoader#, I ran into this problem.

  1. Build error: "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process"
  2. I have found a simple solution which works for me. It goes like this: When the problem occurs, just change the building configuration at the top (if in “Release” to “Debug” and vice versa), build and then change back to previous configuration and build again.

  1. VisualStudio.gitignore
  2. this is the updated stanadard .gitignore file to use my project..

  3. Restore packages with NuGet Package Restore
  4. NuGet Package Restore restores all of a project's dependencies that are listed in either a project file or a packages.config file. You can restore packages manually with nuget restore, dotnet restore, msbuild -t:restore, or through Visual Studio. The dotnet build and dotnet run commands automatically restore packages, and you can configure Visual Studio to restore packages automatically when it builds a project.

  5. Package consumption workflow
  6. Between nuget.org and private package galleries that your organization might establish, you can find tens of thousands of highly useful packages to use in your apps and services. But regardless of the source, consuming a package follows the same general workflow.

  7. Omitting NuGet packages in source control systems
  8. Developers typically omit NuGet packages from their source control repositories and rely instead on package restore to reinstall a project's dependencies before a build.

  9. 7.11 Git Tools - Submodules
  10. Submodules It often happens that while working on one project, you need to use another project from within it. Perhaps it’s a library that a third party developed or that you’re developing separately and using in multiple parent projects. A common issue arises in these scenarios: you want to be able to treat the two projects as separate yet still be able to use one from within the other.

good at steps on building DLL and Libs etc...

  22. C++ binary compatibility between Visual Studio versions
  23. The Microsoft C++ (MSVC) compiler toolsets in Visual Studio 2013 and earlier don't guarantee binary compatibility across major versions. You can't link object files, static libraries, dynamic libraries, and executables built by different versions of these toolsets. The ABIs, object formats, and runtime libraries are incompatible.

  24. Understanding the Dependencies of a Visual C++ Application
  25. To determine which Visual C++ libraries an application depends on, you can view the project properties. (In Solution Explorer, right-click on the project and choose Properties to open the Property Pages dialog box.) On Windows 8 and earlier, you can also use the Dependency Walker (depends.exe), which gives a more comprehensive picture of the dependencies. For more recent versions of Windows the lucasg/Dependencies tool provides similar functionality (this is a third-party tool not guaranteed by Microsoft.)

  26. Redistributing the MFC Library
  27. If you dynamically link your application to the MFC library, you must redistribute the matching MFC DLL. For example, if your MFC app is built by using the version of MFC that ships with Visual Studio 2015, you must redistribute mfc140.dll or mfc140u.dll, depending on whether your app is compiled for narrow characters or Unicode support.

  28. Determine which DLLs to redistribute
  29. When you build an application that uses library DLLs supplied by Visual Studio, users of your application must also have those DLLs on their computers for the application to run. Because most users probably don't have Visual Studio installed, you must provide these DLLs for them. Visual Studio makes these DLLs available as Redistributable files that you can include in your application installer.

  30. Walkthrough: Deploy a Visual C++ application by using a setup project
  31. In this walkthrough, you'll create a sample app in Visual Studio, then create a setup project to deploy your app to another computer.

  32. C++ binary compatibility between Visual Studio versions

You can't link object files, static libraries, dynamic libraries, and executables built by different versions of these toolsets. The ABIs, object formats, and runtime libraries are incompatible.

  34. C++ - Boost - Setting up on Windows 10
  35. Boost libraries are some of the famous ones in the C++ world.

  36. Installing boost on Windows 10

  38. How to Create, Open, Detect, and Remove Alternate Data Streams
  39. Are you interested in Alternate Data Streams? It is a feature offered by the NTFS file system. In this post, MiniTool will introduce this feature to you and show you how to use/manage it.

  40. Hide sensitive files with Alternate Data Streams
  41. Almost every small business and individual PC user has some sensitive or private files to keep away from prying eyes.

  42. Windows: NTFS Alternative Data Streams
  43. You might initially panic! That you may have been attacked or hacked? But actually this signature appears to be an undocumented feature of the Windows Fax and Scan service. The Windows Fax and Scan service actually appends these ADS files to any document or image scanned by the inbuilt Microsoft Windows Scanning software.

  44. Manipulate Alternate Data Streams
  45. A library you can use to encode "hidden" data in existing files.

  46. Where do programs save their secret license? [closed]
  47. Where do programs save their secret license or install related information? I notice that often times when you uninstall a program, clear out appdata references, check registries to make sure there is no residue of any relevant information.

  48. License Files and Aliases
  49. The license file is a binary encoded file is created when the user first runs your application, or it can be created by you and distributed with your application. This file will contain your application's license status as well as many other settings.

coordinate system in C#

  1. Types of Coordinate Systems
  2. GDI+ uses three coordinate spaces: world, page, and device. World coordinates are the coordinates used to model a particular graphic world and are the coordinates you pass to methods in the .NET Framework. Page coordinates refer to the coordinate system used by a drawing surface, such as a form or control. Device coordinates are the coordinates used by the physical device being drawn on, such as a screen or sheet of paper. When you make the call myGraphics.DrawLine(myPen, 0, 0, 160, 80), the points that you pass to the DrawLine method—(0, 0) and (160, 80)—are in the world coordinate space. Before GDI+ can draw the line on the screen, the coordinates pass through a sequence of transformations. One transformation, called the world transformation, converts world coordinates to page coordinates, and another transformation, called the page transformation, converts page coordinates to device coordinates.
